Mason Bee Cocoons

Mason Bee Cocoons

[description action="start"]

Osmia lignaria propinqua.

Host nature’s hardest-working partners in your garden. Mason bees are solitary, non-stinging pollinators that can boost fruit and flower yields dramatically. Mason Bees peaceful and efficient pollinators focused entirely on gathering pollen and helping your plants flourish.

Each cocoon contains a ready-to-hatch mason bee waiting for spring’s warmth. Simply place the cocoons near a clean bee house or nesting tubes, and let nature do the rest. As they emerge, these native bees will begin their quiet work.

10 dormant cocoons come in a small cardboard container. At the time of year that the cocoons are shipped, they will remain dormant. Store the container in a safe spot in the refrigerator once you receive them. Clean nesting tubes and prepare the nesting site over the winter.

In early spring, about a week before crops begin to bloom, place the box of cocoons on or near the nesting area.

As the sun warms the nest, the mason bees will begin to emerge. Emergence can take hours or several days. Males will emerge first, then the females.

Download our Mason Bee Care Sheet.

Cocoons will arrive in a package that measures 10cm wide x 8cm tall x 10cm long.

Note: There are 10 cocoons per box.
